Dr. Rosemary Barra has served as President of the Board of Directors for the Fredericksburg Symphony Orchestra since its inception in 2021. Under her leadership, the 75-piece ensemble has achieved multi-year sold-out masterwork seasons and launched a vital youth concert series. Parallel to her artistic advocacy, Dr. Barra built a distinguished multi-decade career at the University of Mary Washington as a Professor of Biology, Department Chair, and Dean of the Faculty. As a Cell Physiologist, she mentored many undergraduate research students and was very active in the Virginia Academy of Science, serving in numerous positions including President.
