Our Story
Bridging a Great Community
with Great Music
Vision Statement
We envision a community where live music connects people from all walks of life to inspire a more vibrant and creative region.
Mission Statement
Believing that music has the power to inspire, the Fredericksburg Symphony fulfills this mission by enriching the community with live music, educational programs, and community engagement initiatives — creating shared experiences that improve the quality of life throughout the region.
Founded by long-time Fredericksburg resident Dr. Kevin Bartram in the fall of 2021, the 75-piece FSO is comprised of the most talented string, wind, and percussion musicians in the region.
Season Lineup
Experience seven extraordinary concerts in the Fredericksburg Symphony Orchestra's 2026–27 Rising Stars Season. From the excitement of our September Season Opening Spectacular and the audience favorites of Classical's Greatest Hits to the festive Christmas Bells! concerts, an unforgettable Valentine's celebration, the family favorite Lolli-Pops!, and the thrilling season finale featuring Beethoven's Ninth, there's something for everyone. This season also introduces two exciting new initiatives—the Classical Masterworks Series and the Rising Stars Series—bringing celebrated masterpieces and tomorrow's brightest performers to Fredericksburg.
Guest Artist Series
Established in 2022, the Fredericksburg Symphony's Guest Artist Series was created to bring internationally recognized performers and distinguished artists to our community. Previous guests have included Abigail Rockwell, granddaughter of Norman Rockwell; award-winning composer Brian Balmages; the Virginia Children's Chorus; and three Broadway legends. The series continues to connect Fredericksburg audiences with exceptional talent and unforgettable live performances.
The Musicians
FSO musicians are top performing artists — many perform with other orchestras, others are professional music teachers. Entrance is competitive, with successful candidates offered a performance contract.

“I want to commend you for organizing the opportunity for our students. It was obvious that you had prepared them for the visit! As I looked around the auditorium, the students were captivated by Ms. Rockwell, and the projection of her grandfather's artwork gave them something to reference. It was a perfect learning experience for our students.”
